The church was never designed to be a club that gathers together for some singing, teaching, and hand shaking (maybe even butt shaking). Either way, that's not the point. God called us to give community to those around us. He set us up to be an organization that leveraged it's resources to make an impact in the community around them. In Acts 2:42-47, we see the church that believed this. At J10 we believe the story in Acts gives us insight into one of the greatest opportunities to connect this world to God. When we give to people, it's more than just giving them money or stuff, it's giving them community. Community with GOD!
We know people want to give and there are people that need help. We also know that many people don't have the financial margin to give. J10 is encouraging you all to down size and have a fall cleaning. Imagine, if everyone went through their houses and sold everything they didn't need. We took that money and put it into an account so we could have the money to help poor and broken people. You don't have to imagine that. It's happening...
